Meditation

Studies show that a regular Meditation practice has significant benefits on improving quality of sleep, reducing anxiety and stress, increasing immune function,  lengthening attention spans, lower blood pressure, and improving memory.  It is worth highlighting that meditation is seen by a number of researchers as one of the most effective forms of managing stress through reducing cortisol (the stress hormone) levels and its associated inflammatory responses.

Breath work

Surprisingly few adults breathe effectively and it can have dramatic effects on both our mental and physical health.  New studies have uncovered evidence to show what centuries of anecdotal wisdom have said – that controlling the breath focuses the brain.  So effective are breathing techniques that they are even employed as part of the US Navy Seals’ training to  stay calm and focused.  Different exercises can be employed that induce calmness and others that stimulate and increase energy and alertness.  Breathing techniques can also be  helpful in regulating blood pressure and stress responses.

Yoga

By synchronising movement and breath, yoga activates a number of physiological systems in our bodies. In conjunction with its better known benefits of increasing flexibility and strength, yoga improves blood flow and lymphatic circulation and is particularly effective in balancing the nervous system.  This in particular has a positive effect on reducing stress, depression and anxiety.

  • Haha Yoga 60 – 90 mins

Great for beginners. This Traditional Eastern discipline combines breath work, strength, flexibility and meditation through a series of physical postures. Sun salutations may be used as a warm-up depending on the ability of the practitioners.

  • Vinyasa Yoga 60 – 90 mins

  • Yin Yoga 60 – 90 mins

A Mediative and very relaxing practice, Yin Yoga is for anyone… Yin Yoga uses props such as blocks and bolsters to provide support in each posture to enable the practitioner to remain in the pose for 2 – 5 minutes. Resulting in a feeling of calm and balance in the body and the mind.

  • Yoga Nidra 45 mins

Translated means Yoga Sleep. This meditative practice involves lying down on your back and through the guidance you release tension from the physical body, one body part at a time. • Chair Yoga 45 mins

Perfect for the office. Practiced sitting on a chair or standing using a chair for support. The postures are often adaptations of modern Yoga poses the use of breath in each pose is highly focused upon. A short seated, guided meditation brings the practice to a close.

Massage

Massage therapy helps your body manage stress.  A massage will increase both muscle and mental relaxation. This type of therapy provides relief to chronic headaches and muscular pain. At the same time, a massage will also flush the stress hormone cortisol out of the body to reduce stress levels and decrease pain. During a massage, the feel-good hormones, serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins in your body will also increase. These hormones improve your sense of well-being, help you have a more positive frame of mind  and reduce your stress.  Studies also show that people who receive regular massage experience a subsequent drop in depression and pain.
